Obituary for William Hill "Willie" Johnson
William "Willie" Hill Johnson, 68 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.
William was born Tuesday, August 4, 1953, in Cookeville, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Herschel Buford Johnson and the late Mattie Mae (Myers) Johnson.
William was a loving son, brother, father, Pa Willie, uncle, and friend. He loved all sports, playing cards, loved figuring out sports statistics, being an animal lover, gardening, western books, and movies. He was a wonderful athlete, created a men's basketball league, and played baseball. He was a wonderful friend, he knew no stranger, and was known to offer the shirt off of his back. William was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed.
William is survived by, Daughter, Kelly Johnson (Tony York); 2 Granddaughters, Hillary Martin and Hallie Beth Waite; Great-Granddaughter, Lylah Mae Martin; 2 Brothers, Ron and Sandy Johnson and Lloyd Thurman "Buddy" Johnson; Nephew, Beau Johnson; Niece, Lyndsey Johnson; Mother of his daughter and first wife, Teresa Johnson; A host of cousins, and special friends.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by, his Sister, Judy.
Celebration of Life for William Hill Johnson will be held Sunday, May 29, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Benton Flatt officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cookeville Putnam County Animal Shelter.
