Obituary for Wendell Herald Wilson

Wendell H. Wilson, 84 of Cookeville, Tennessee went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Russell Springs, KY on August 6, 1937 to the late Junnie and Ona (Meeks) Wilson, but moved to Cookeville in 1969 where he settled down and raised his family.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Jean (Eakes) Wilson, daughter Teresa (Daryl) Watts of Fresno, CA, son Darren (Renee') Wilson of Cookeville, TN, son Scott (Julie) Wilson of Maryville, TN and daughter Robyn (Randy) Warren of Cleveland, TN, a sister, Fayrene Flynn, brothers Don (Betty) Wilson and Bo Wilson all of Somerset, KY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brad Wilson, Ryan Watts, Rachel Watts, Brooke (Jonathan) Turner, Daniel Warren, Joseph Warren, Samuel Warren and a great grandson Graham Wilson, a host of nieces and nephews and a special sister-in-law Peggy Eakes.
Wendell worked for Commonwealth Insurance for 30 years and over the course of his career made many friendships that have carried over throughout his life. For almost 40 years he worked in various capacities in the church from leading songs to the choir or congregation, driving a church bus to pick up shut ins, to his most cherished position of being Sunday School Superintendent.
He and his wife currently attend New Beginning Assembly of God. Wendell has always had a great love for music and could sit and listen to and sing along with his beloved Bill Gaither videos for hours at a time.
Funeral services for Wendell will be Saturday, May 21, 2022 beginning at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro Myron Greer and Bro. Lee Roy Forgey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, May, 20, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 21, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville.
