Obituary for Ruth Nell Medlin (GROGAN)
Ruth Nell Medlin, 100 of Cookeville, Tennessee went home to the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2023, while surrounded by loved ones at home in Cookeville.
Born Friday, November 24, 1922 in Putnam County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Grogan and the late Lucy Winfree Grogan. From a young age she understood how to be part of a team, as Ruth was the baby of seven children.
Ruth believed in the labor of love, sharing joy, happiness, and plenty of home-cooked meals with her family and friends. She was a member of the Double Springs Community Church.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by husbands, John Frank Guinn, Van Guinn, and Bernist Medlin; son Earl Ray Guinn; grandson Earl Ray Guinn, Jr.; great-grandson Joshua Ronald Guinn; sisters Myrtle Donaldson, Carrie Stout, and Ruby Fields; and brothers Hershel Grogan, Harley Grogan, and Paul Grogan.
A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Crest Lawn Funeral Home located at 800 West Jackson Street Cookeville, TN 38501 with the Bro. Frank Rodgers officiating. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Cookeville, TN.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of service.
