Obituary for Roger Kent Burke

Roger Kent Burke, 81, of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee.

Roger was born November 23, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Edward Oliver Burke and Virginia (Bush) Case.

Roger was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was an active funeral director, and embalmer for 60 plus years, serving numerous communities in Tennessee, where he was involved in the funeral of several well-known people. He was a graduate from Cookeville Central High in 1959, and from John A. Gupton Mortuary College in 1963. He was a past president of Lion's Club International, served many roles with the Upper Cumberland Funeral Directors Association, and was a mason for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cookeville and an active member in the Tennessee Tech University Athletics, where he drove the equipment truck for the football team for many years. Roger was an avid fan of College Basketball and a "garage" band drummer. He was an exceptional storyteller, and he knew most everyone in Middle Tennessee somehow. Roger was loved by everyone that knew him and he will be greatly missed. "Roger Out"

Roger is survived by, Wife, Stella Martin Burke; 2 Daughters, Sherry Henderson, and Stephanie and Brian Landtroop; 2 Grandchildren, Nicholas Reedze, and Caroline Henderson; Brother, Phil and Sherri Burke; Sister, Martha and Bob Nemer; Special Niece, Angela and Dov Lutzker; Step Daughter, Kim and Joe Moceri; Step Son, James Martin; A host nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and special friends.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by, First Wife, Mary Jean (Englebert) Burke; Uncle and Aunt that raised him, Erwin and Mai Agee; Cousin, Jerry Agee; Brother, Melvin Case; Infant Sister, Virginia Marietta Burke.

Graveside Service for Roger Kent Burke will be held Monday, February 21, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Cookeville City Cemetery with Bro. Roger Cooper officiating.

Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
