Obituary for Robert "Dick" Frederick Reaves Jr.

Robert "Dick" Frederick Reaves, Jr., 80 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Dick was born Tuesday, September 9, 1941, in Raleigh, North Carolina, and he was the son of the late Robert Frederick Reaves, Sr., and the late Mary Hazel (Rogers) Reaves.

Dick served 2 tours in The United States Navy, and after serving he worked his way up to ship captain with Shell Oil and was able to travel the world. He lived many years in Slidell and Baton Rouge, Lousiana, and he retired to Cookeville, Tennessee in 2006. He considered sacrificing for others a privilege. He had the heart of a servant and has worked with the Collegeside Church of Christ Bread for Life Program for many years. He once said that God had allowed him to live for so long so that he may lead this community outreach program. Dick Reaves loved well, he was devoted to his family, always putting their needs before his own. "Mr. Dick"could fix anything and used his gifts to help family, friends, and often strangers who needed help. This man loved to laugh, often at his own jokes. The world was made a better place by a life well lived and he will be missed by many.

Dick is survived by, Wife of 47 Years, Dawn Elaine Reaves; 5 Children, Lisa Rachelle Cox, Melissa Dawn Gordon (Alex Ackles).
