Obituary

Phillip Godsey, age 75 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Monday, January 11, 2021, at his home in Cookeville.

He was born Monday, July 16, 1945 in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late LK and Aline (Qualls) Godsey.

Phillip loved his family especially his wife, children and grandchildren. Phillip was an epic story teller and had many friends who played big parts in his stories. He was retired from Fleetguard where he worked for 35 years in the maintenance department. Phillip loved to tinker and could fix anything, he especially loved working on clocks. He also had a great love for camping and his cabin on Calfkiller River. Phillip was a 32nd degree Mason and also a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, and Mended Hearts. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era, and also served in the Tennessee National Guard. He never met a stranger and always made an impression on everyone.

He was a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Marsha Gail Godsey of Cookeville, TN

Jeffery Lynn Godsey of Madison, WI
Jeremy Wayne Godsey and wife LaNelle of Cookeville, TN
Aubrey Nathan Watson of Savannah, GA

2 Grandchildren:
Mia Paige Godsey and Gavin Wayne Godsey both of Cookeville, TN

2 Sisters and Brothers-in-law:
Shirley and Mike Randolph of Hermitage, TN
Pam and Jack Bryant of Cookeville, TN

1 Brother and 2 Sisters-in-Law:
Richard and Theresa Godsey of Cookeville, TN
Linda Balius Godsey of Biloxi, MS

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: 1 Brother: Jery Godsey, and 1 Sister: Geraldine Godsey Wares,

Funeral services for Phillip will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 beginning at 1:00 pm at Double Springs Community Church with Bro. Frank Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Double Springs Community Church Thursday, January 14, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.

The family requests that due to the Covid Pandemic, that everyone please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS WIFE GAIL AND FAMILY WE LIVED NEXT DOOR TO PHIL AND GAIL FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AND A PERSON COULD NOT HAVE ASK FOR A BETTER NEIGHBOR OR FRIEND THAN THEY HAVE BEEN TO KENDRA AND MYSELF. REALLY ENJOYED TALKING OUT BY THEIR POND AND HEARING ABOUT THINGS FROM THE PAST. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THEIR KINDNESS AND HOW HE COULD ALWAYS BE COUNTED ON IF NEEDED.
