Obituary for Melville H. Knowlton

Melville "Sarge" H. Knowlton, 88 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Sarge was born December 24, 1931, in Niagra Falls, New York to the late Harvey and Effie Knowlton.

Sarge was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1968. Sarge served in the Korean Conflict as a combat medic and in Vietnam as a Crew Chief and Mechanic. Sarge was one of the first advisors sent to Vietnam in 1961. He was a watchmaker for Stamps Jewelry in Cookeville for 25 years. Sarge was loved by everyone that knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Sarge is survived by, Wife of 67 years, Dimple J. Knowlton, 7 children, Michael H. Knowlton, Edward Timothy Knowlton, and wife Judy, Anthony Wayne Knowlton and wife Debbie, Christopher H. Knowlton and wife Nancy, Russell S. Knowlton, Susan Loraine Knowlton, and Gary Knowlton; 17 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Siblings, Bobby, Peggy, and Patricia Moore.

In addition to his parents, Sarge was preceded in death by, Brothers, Warren, and Pete Knowlton.

Funeral Service for Melville "Sarge" Knowlton will be held Friday, December 11, 2020, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2020, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
