Obituary for Mark Henderson Holloway

Mark Henderson Holloway, 58, passed away unexpectantly on Aug. 9, 2022, from serious complications of a recent surgery and other health challenges.

Mark was born Friday, Jan. 31, 1964, in Tallahassee, Florida, he was the son of Sarah (Woodward) Holloway and the late Frank M. Holloway Sr.

He was a loving son and brother, and he never forgot his friendships. He did all the shopping and errands for his mother and took their little dog Rowdy for walks, and he couldn’t have been more devoted to his friends and family.

He suffered many years from serious mental illness, but he was the main caregiver and protector, along with his brother Frank of his mother, Sarah W. Holloway.

Mark was a songwriter and singer. He always loved music and played his keyboard frequently with his own music. Mark put together a CD of his compositions and gave it away to friends and family members. Even though he had a bit of stage fright, he always looked forward to performing his music for his family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Frank Holloway of Baxter and his wife Ruth Ventrice; niece Sarah Savage and her husband Jesse and their children Jasper and Cade; nephew Michael and his wife Gina.

He was preceded in death by his father Frank M. Holloway Sr.; sister, Lucy Susan Holloway; and girlfriend of 14 years, Kim Lastinger.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Volunteer Behavioral Health, Cookeville Campus at 1200 South Willow Ave, Cookeville, TN 38506;
