Joyce “Joy” Elane Crawford, 79, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed from this life on Monday, November 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Joy was born on Saturday, November 21, 1942, in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Lucian Edward Crawford and the late Edith (Myatt) Crawford.
Joy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She attended Upperman High School and graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics. Joy taught nutrition at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee and was also the head Dietician at Sailor’s Snug Harbor Retirement Home in North Carolina for over 20 years. She then returned to her home state of Tennessee and obtained an LPN license, as well as developing her career as a bank teller until her retirement.
Joy was a member of the Baxter Church of Christ for many years. She had a great love of butterflies, reading and also enjoyed wearing hats of any kind.
Joy is survived by her son, Joshua Crawford; 5 siblings, Jerry Crawford and his wife Charlene, Sue McNew and her husband Ben, Tommy Crawford and his wife Gail, Sandy Kennedy, and her husband Tony, and Edie Marks and her husband, Dick. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Joy chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
