Obituary for Josephine Mary Grobofski

Josephine Mary Grobofski, 79 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Josephine was born July 3, 1943, to the late Boleslaw and Sophia Grobofski, in Putnam, Connecticut.

“Josie” was a friend to all. The shoulder all could lean on no matter what was going on in her life. She taught her girls to love crafts and creating things with their own hands. Josie was a seamstress by training and had a hand in making clothing, accessories, tablecloths, teddy bears, Doll Centerpieces, Doll Toilet Paper Holders, and most anything else that she, Sharon, and Lila could come up with. Josie also shared her Green Thumb with her girls, taught them how to grow and process their own food, with the love of plants embedded in all three of them.

She was a mother of three girls, Joyce Linkkila and her husband, Henry, Julie Madson and her husband, Dan, and Amanda Baeten and her husband, Gary, and adopted Travis Culley when he was 5 years old.

She was a foster mother, officially to six children, unofficially to at least half of the children in the neighborhood. Then you can add in all our friends from school that came to our house as their getaway from their own house.

She was a Grand-Mother of 8. Amber Linkkila Smith (Mike), Jeremy Linkkila (Katlyn), and Henry Linkkila Jr.(Shilynne), Nathaniel Norton (Katie) and Dani Madson, (Cody), Alfred Benard Jr. (Ashley), Joshua Benard (Briann), and Alissa Benard Ferguson (Robert).

A Great-Grandmother to 21: Selah, Carolynn, Sullivan, Sterling, Cecelia, Zoey, Stephanie, Christopher, Amelia, Maddox, Ava, Indie, Charlotte Josephine, Joshua Jr., Hayden, Kassidy, Kenzie, Aurora, Jaden, Avery, and finally, the youngest of the bunch, I think, Dakoda.

She is predeceased by her parents and her brother John Grobofski, who passed just last month at age 87.

Celebration of Life for Josephine Mary Grobofski will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight Henry officiating.
