Obituary for Johnnie Sue Bruce (Busha)
Johnnie Sue Bruce, 81 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
Johnnie was born Thursday, May 9, 1940, in Carnesville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Luther Harrison Busha and the late Lottie Reba (Casey) Busha.
Johnnie was a wonderful wife, mother, and Nanny Bruce. Her favorite thing was to cook for and feed the entire family. She also loved rose gardening with the Rose Society, loved animals (especially feeding the hummingbirds). She owned and operated a sock shop in Cookeville, and also worked hanging wallpaper. Johnnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cookeville.
Johnnie is survived by, 3 Sons, David and Donna Bruce, Greg and Teresa Bruce, and Ken Bruce; Grandchildren, Kenny Cornett, Candra, and Chris Sparks, Sarah McAlpin, Harrison Bruce, Jonathan, and Tressa Bruce, and Josh and Checovoia Bruce; Great-Grandchildren, Clayton and Chloe Sparks, Blaine and Mahler McAlpin, Lucca, Alyce, Jayce, and Embyrlee Bruce; Brother, Steve, and Gerry Busha.
In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, David Watson Bruce.
Graveside Service for Johnnie Sue Bruce will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Bill Stone officiating. Entombment will follow the service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers Marilyn, Miranda, and Angelica. They were a great help in her final months. The family also asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Putnam County Animal Shelter.
