Obituary for John Robert Henke Sr.
John Robert Henke, Sr., age 87, passed away on February 02, 2021, surrounded by family in Columbia, TN.
John was born on April 23, 1933, in Healdsburg, CA to his late parents Daniel Mikael and Freida Alice Goodwin Henke.
John served 30 years in the Army, served in the line of duty in the Vietnam War. As dedicated and hardworking as John was, he earned his rank as Command Sergeant Major until his retirement.
John loved and appreciated the little things in life like fishing, gardening, the hummingbirds that visited his garden daily, fixing things around the house, and cheering on the good ol' Atlanta Braves.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth Henke, his mother, father, and sister: Patricia Crayton.
John is survived by his children: Cyndy Henke of Columbia, TN and John R. Henke, Jr. of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren: Alexis Henke, Kali Weber, and Mikael Weber.
Celebration of Life for John Robert Henke, Sr. will be held Thursday, February 11, 2021, at
2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with full military honors.
