Obituary for John Paul "John Boy" Bourne

Johnnie "John" Paul Bourne, 73 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at his home from a courageous battle with lymphoma and he won in the end.

John was born Saturday, July 31, 1948, in Livingston, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Raymond Albert Bourne and the late Mary Dimple (Henry) Quarles.

John was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Pa, and friend. He was a devoted Christian and was a member of Outreach Baptist Church in Smithville, Tennessee. John and Amy previously owned and operated Dairy Queen in Smithville and he was involved with the Cookeville and Smithville Dairy Queen franchises for 40 years. Throughout the many years of owning Dairy Queen, he touched so many lives and was so thankful for the relationships he made with his extended work family. John proudly served in the United States Army. He loved spoiling his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling with his family, and playing cards. John Boy was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed by so many.

John is survived by, Wife of 38 years, Amy (Bean) Bourne; 4 Children, Shannon and Kevin Dailey, Shawna Kirby, Melissa, and Chris Stone, and Jennifer and Charles Adcock; 10 Grandchildren, Liam, Makayla, Shayla, Kennlee, Nate, Krystle, Daniel, Delonna, Andy, and Chris; 7 Great-Grandchildren, Michael, Faith, Scarlet, Aspen, Ayla, Oakland, and Xzabrian; Brother, Jack, and Leesa Rockwell; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and granddogs.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by, 2 Brothers, Roger Bourne, and Draper Henry; Grandson, Kaden Kirby; Father and Mother In Law, Herman, and Rebecca Bean.

Funeral Service with full military honors for Johnnie "John" Paul Bourne will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
