Obituary for Jean R Burks (Dever)

Jean R. (Dever) Burks, 91 ran out the door in a hurry today on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Jean was born Tuesday, January 6, 1931, in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

Jean was a woman, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always stubborn and did things in her own time to the beat of her own drum. She ran food pantries, accounting, and restaurant businesses, and made her family crazy. She had a quick wit and dry humor always making practical jokes and was always ready to hide tirelessly for hours in the shower or behind the door in the dark to scare anyone. Jean was ready and always up to no good to take her jokes to the next level. Today the world is a little dimmer for its loss of her indomitable will and stubborn zeal. She wasn't perfect but full of flaws like us all. She was loved and will be missed, but like all sunsets, there will be a new dawn coming to the horizon tomorrow.

Jean is survived by, Daughter, Patsy Cline; Grandson, John R. Busch; 2 Brothers, Thomas Dever, and Albert and Peggy Dever; Sister, Mary Dever; Sister-In-Law, Joyce Dever; A host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her Husband, Obie Burks; 4 Children, Charles Cline, Richard Cline, Catherine Hall, and James Cline; 2 Siblings, Florence and Bill.

Jean chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a celebration of her life may be held at a later date.
