James Larry Maxwell, age 76 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Friday, April 9, 2021, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville.

He was born Monday, September 18, 1944 in Monterey, Tennessee. He was the son of the late George E. "Groundhog" and Clora E. (Cooper) Maxwell.

He was a U.S. Veteran and served in the United States Army. He loved to play his guitars.

James is survived by:

1 Daughter:
Rachel Dixon of Monterey, TN

1 Son:
Christopher Maxwell of Monterey, TN

2 Sisters:
Barbara G. Hood and Nita C. Horn

1 Brother:
Claude E. Maxwell

Mother of his children:
Marie Whittaker

And a host of friends and family that loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 3 Sisters: Anna L. Youngblood, Kathy L. Maxwell, Saundra K. Ford, and 2 Brothers: Arles E. Maxwell and William T. Maxwell.

James had chosen cremation and no services are scheduled at this time.

Crest Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Its a shame that his wife that he was married to for 20+ years and the grandchildren they shared together are not mentioned in this obituary.
