Obituary for James "Jim" Cooper Sawyer

James "Jim" Cooper Sawyer, 77 of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Jim was born Wednesday, September 22, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, and he was the son of the late James Sawyer and the late Martha (Mullins) Sawyer.

Jim was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was always making jokes, had a nickname for everyone, and genuinely enjoyed life. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force, was very proud of his country, and after his military time he served in the Civil Air Patrol. He loved motorcycles, country music, singing, and dancing. Jim was loved by everyone he came in contact with and he will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by, Wife, Sharon Sawyer; 10 Children, Jim and Debra Sawyer, Dawn and Bill Barker, Timmy and Camille Sawyer, Brandon Sawyer, Jason Sawyer, Jordan and Sylwia Flaga, Janelle Hyde, Erin and Austin Minnear, Leah and Randy Corley, and Shannon and Chadd Roysden; 18 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Judy Maison; A host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by, Son, Sean Michael Sawyer; Brother, Herb Mullins; Baby Sister Sawyer.

Jim chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
