Obituary for Irene Walker Stevens

Irene (Walker) Stevens, 90 of Gallatin, Tennessee and formerly of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

Irene was born Tuesday, October 6, 1931, in Rickman, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of the late Charlie Lee Walker and the late Minnie Lee (McDaniel) Walker.

Irene was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She and her husband, Al managed Holiday Inns for many years. Her second career was with Tapes and Technical Solutions, in Nashville, Tennessee. She loved to play golf, board games like scrabble, traveling with her sisters, her children, and especially her grandchildren. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was a member of Christ Church. Irene was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Irene is survived by, 3 Children, Rhonda and Alan Lewis, Craig and Denise Stevens, and Mark Stevens; 8 Grandchildren, Trae Wilhite, Casey Stevens, Whitney Stevens, Leah Stevens, Matthew Stevens, Michael Stevens, Sarah Marie Stevens, and Ryan Stevens; 7 Great-Grandchildren, Ethan, Sydney, Marlee, Nash, Lathon, Allie, and Rowan; Sister, Velma Ledbetter; A host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by, Husband, Al Stevens; 3 siblings, Beatrice Huddleston, Estel Gentry Walker, and Daulis Freeman Walker.

Funeral Service for Irene (Walker) Stevens will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Katlyn Clifton and Irene's Grandchildren officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 12:00 pm until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
