Obituary for Henry "Tommy" Thurman Slagle Jr.
Henry Thurman (Tommy) Slagle, Jr., age 80 of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed from this life Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville.
Mr. Slagle was born on April 1, 1943, to the late Henry T. (Tom) and Lillian Bernice Griffin Slagle in Detroit, Michigan. He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Jo Slagle Holloway, and granddaughter Megan Lynn Williams, brother, Ronnie (Peggy) Slagle, and sister, Dianne (Dave) Friedman; his nephews Jeff (Stephanie) Slagle, Rod (Teresa) Slagle, nieces Carrie (Mike) Hurst, Alicia (Billy) Bowman, Sarah Jane (Kyle) Basler, and Joanna Slagle; great-nephews Tyler (Jana) Slagle, Wyatt (Chassady) Slagle, Griffin Richards, Harrison Basler, and Kit Basler; great-nieces Cassi Slagle, Riley Hurst, Reagan Hurst, Logan Bowman, and Sydney Bowman; great-great nephews Axel Slagle, Guthrie Slagle, and great-great niece Lenox Slagle. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Lynn Slagle, and great-niece, Molly Elizabeth Slagle.
Mr. Slagle attended Cookeville City and Capshaw Elementary Schools, Central High School - Class of 1961, and Tennessee Technololgical University. He was a member of Boy Scout Troup 156. He was store manager at Wal Mart stores in east and middle Tennessee for 27 years and district manager for Dollar Tree for 15 years in middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky.
Mr. Slagle’s favorite things to do were spending time with his daughter Jamie and granddaughter Megan as well as the Slagle and Griffin families’ gatherings. He also loved spending time on Center Hill Lake and visiting with his high school classmates.
The family sends a great big “Thank You” to all the staff at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville.
Celebration of Life for Henry "Tommy" Slagle will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Sligo Marina, 350 Sligo Rd, Smithville, TN 37166.
