Obituary for Deborah Ann "Debby" Cumby (Palmer)

A Celebration of Life will be held for Deborah “Debby” Ann Palmer Cumby, age 70, on Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery immediately following services.

The family will receive family and friends between 11 am and 1 pm on Saturday, April 2nd.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Apple, Chris Palmer, Zach & Micah Allison, Chance Price, and Eli and Cade Apple.

Mrs. Cumby passed on Monday, March 28th at Charter Senior Living.

She was born on April 18, 1951, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to the late Ewin & Winnie Mae Palmer.

Debby was a devoted member of Life Church for many years. She also served at Baxter Church of God, Cookeville Church of God, Colonial Hills Church, and Cookeville First Assembly as a pianist and she loved to sing.

Debby retired as an administrative assistant and held various positions at the Herald-Citizen, Prescott South Middle School, and Tennessee Tech University throughout her career.

In addition to her parents, Debby was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Ralph Cumby, and her brother, Rex Palmer. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Leslie and Maggie Cumby.

She is survived by many family members including her daughter and son-in-law Lesley and Nathan Geren of Cookeville, son and daughter-in-law, Brandon & Kimberly Cumby of Nampa, Idaho, five grandchildren, Savanna Joy Geren, Gabriela Hope, Olivia Faith, Audrey Grace, and Sophie Joy Cumby, and a grandson Chase Ryan Geren; her sister and brother in law Ted and Jan Apple, and her brother Gary Palmer; nieces and nephews and their spouses Jim and Angie Palmer, Nathan and Pandy Sauceman, Vicki Allison, Jerry and Terri Jackson, Stephanie Price, Christopher Palmer, Jeff and Kerri Apple, Steven Zacharias, and Ryan and Deb Riley, along with many beloved great-nieces and nephews.

Rev. Ted Kocher will officiate the service.
