Obituary for Carolyn Louise Stone (Hurst)
Carolyn Louise Stone, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 19, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Carolyn was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 22, 1940. She later moved to Cookeville, Tennessee to pursue a degree in Home Economics at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, now known as Tennessee Tech University. During her time at TPI, she met and married the late, Harold Stone. After graduating from TPI, Carolyn worked for the Department of Human Services. She deeply loved this work believing it made a true impact on the community. Of all her accomplishments, a strong, loving and supportive family was her most prized.
Carolyn was proceeded in death by her mother, Ethel Evelyn (Stegall) Hurst, her father, Charles Edward Hurst, and her husband of 55 years, Harold Evan Stone. She is survived by her children Angela Stone Regitko (George), Jade Stone Hunter (Ron), and Tony Stone (Susan). Me-mom was adored by her grandchildren Jenny Mayberry (Patrick), Mary Beth Jaquess (Tyler), Andi Hunter, Mack Hunter and Sally Smith (Steve). She was known and loved by her great-grand children Jackson Demps, Maggie, Jude, Tripp and Crosby Mayberry, and Grainger Smith. She was a loving Aunt Carolyn to her nieces and their families, Melinda Keifer (Randy) and Julie Lee (Danny), Amanda Keifer Buckingham (Liz), Christy Lee, Kaitie Lee Hutton (Billy), Emily Keifer, Lee Hutton, Dean Buckingham, and Luke Hutton.
If you had the privilege of sitting down with Carolyn, you know the sage wisdom she carried, the unwavering love she freely shared, and the accepting nature she always displayed.
Carolyn was a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. We will miss her voice, her laugh and most of all her presence. However, we do not grieve the way the world grieves, we carry Hope and cherished memories of our treasured matriarch.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm.
