Obituary for Billy Dean Boles

Billy Dean Boles, age 91 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2022.

He was born to the late Sherman and Marie Boles on March 8th, 1931 in Centraila, Illinois.

Billy was raised in Centralia, Illinois where he attended high school before enlisting in the United States Army in 1949. He proudly served his country for 20 years and met his wife, Martha, at a restaurant while stationed at Forth Leavenworth in Leavenworth, Kansas. They only knew each other for 3 weeks before they got married on December 5th, 1953. Their friends told them they wouldn’t last more than 6 months, but they proved everyone wrong and spent 64 wonderful years together. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Through the years, Billy enjoyed fishing, camping, rooting for the Chicago Bears, and spending time with his family. He spent many summers camping with his wife and children at Yogi Bear Campground and Woodhaven Lakes where they made many friends who became family.

He will be sorely missed and survived by his children: Tammie (Boles) Dotson, Heide Boles, Michelle (Boles) Phelan, Billie (Boles) Mastrodonato, Jamie Boles (Rachel), and Ashley Stroh (Justin), 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; a son, Michael; his parents, Sherman and Marie; five brothers, Richard Boles of Centralia, IL, Eugene  Boles of Galveston, TX, Irvin Boles of Morrison, IL, David Boles of Steeleville, IL; four sisters, Lucille Boles and Neva Reynolds both of Centralia, IL, Pearl Dekalb of Denver, CO, and Vera Wolfe of Rock Falls, IL.

Billy chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Illinois.
