Obituary for Anne Juanita Bailey Peake (Page)

Anne Juanita Page Bailey Peake, 71 of Cookeville, Tennessee departed from this life on Saturday, February 18th , 2023 with family and friends by her side at her home.

Anne was born Friday, October 26th, 1951, in the historic Free Hills community of Celina, Tennessee and was the last of thirteen children born to the beloved Page family, created by the late Rose and Jessie Page.

Anne worked at Russell Stover’s Candies in Cookeville for over 20 years. Once the company relocated, many of her old co-workers became her new co-workers at Oreck, where she retired in 2011. She was an avid women’s basketball fan, Tennessee Tech supporter, and devoted member of the McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. As she was always around an oven, many of us will think of her and remember the sweet smell of her homemade banana bread. She loved her family more than anything, liked watching The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie and enjoyed spending time and singing with her sisters.

Anne will forever be remembered as a caring daughter, thoughtful sister, faithful wife, loving mother, and grandmother, a treasured and cherished “Gigi”, and a sweet friend.

Anne is survived by her remaining three sisters, Hilda Gist, Nardie Hamilton, and Kathleen Hamilton; her only daughter, Leanna Kaye Bailey; her two grandchildren, Trenton Tyler Strode and Jessika Alyce Strode; her three great-grandchildren, Kaliyah Leighann Queen, Ke’thaniel Josiah Evans-Strode, and Khyna Nicole Evans-Strode. She also loved her countless nieces and nephews as if they were her own.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Eugene Peake; two brothers, Charlie Ray Hassell and James Page and seven sisters, whom she loved with all her heart: Claudette Willis, Evelyn Ellis, Annie Flossie Bartlett, Odean Gribble, Gertie Roberts, Rosa Farley, and Mattie Dowell.

Funeral Service for Anne Peake will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 1:00 pm from the McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Heritage Cemetery, Algood, Tennessee.
