Obituary for Anita Louise Jennings (Jennings)

Anita Louise Jennings, 73, Of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed from this life, Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Anita was born in Norfolk, Virginia on May 11, 1949, to the late Charles and Juanita Jennings who preceded her in death along with 2 brothers and a sister.

She leaves behind several very close friends, Phil and Mary Alice Thomas and family, Jim and Linda Sandusky, Mary Lee Bush and other friends at Sycamore Church of Christ where she was a member. She lived at the Upper Cumberland Christian Homes, where she befriended Dean Cobb and Bronda Haygood.

Anita retired from the State of Virginia but after moving to Cookeville, she also worked some at McDonalds.

She was a kind and quiet-natured person who loved animals, her Dallas Cowboys football team, and TTU women’s basketball team. Several years ago, she volunteered with the ladies' auxiliary at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was an army vet serving from March 1968 – March 1971. While in the service, she was on their championship women’s basketball team and worked at the Pentagon as a secretary.

Graveside Service for Anita Louise Jennings will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Bros. Kevin Daughrity and Jim Sandusky officiating. Full Military Honors will be presented by the Veterans Honor Guard.
