Obituary

Aaron “Sonny” Lamar Meeks, age 80, of Smithville, Tennessee, passed from this life Friday, December 18, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 15, 1940 in Star City, Arkansas. He was the only child of the
late Leo Aaron Meeks and the late Lorene (Gillespie) Meeks.

Aaron worked for the Sutton Shirt Company, first in Star City, Arkansas
and then in Sparta, Tennessee, for many years. He later became a real
estate agent for American Way in Cookeville, TN, and then The Real Estate
Team in Smithville. Before retirement, Mr. Meeks was elected to the
City of Smithville Board of Alderman and served as Police
Commissioner. Mr. Meeks will probably be most fondly remembered in
Dekalb County as the Dekalb County High School Band Booster
president in which he served for over 12 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, A. V. (Smith) Meeks, his daughter and
son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Allen, and his grandson, Addison
Aaron Allen.

Aaron is also survived by a host of brothers and sisters-in-law and
numerous nephews and a niece.

Due to the Covid-19, social distance and masks are to be worn during the service.

Funeral services for Mr. Meeks will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December
22, 2020 from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home, 800 W. Jackson St. Cookeville TN. 38501, with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Crest Lawn Funeral Home Tuesday, December 22, 2020, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm.
