Obituary for Frances Lorene Sexton (Thomas)

Print
Frances "Lorene" (Thomas) Sexton, age 91, passed quietly on the night of November 17, 2018, at Cumberland Ridge Assisted Living in Crossville, TN. She was born January 9, 1927, in Oakdale, TN to Carlton E. and Annie E. (Brooks) Thomas. Lorene was a member of Mt Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs for many years and previously a member Trinity Baptist Church in Harriman.

Lorene loved both of her church families dearly and enjoyed many years of teaching Awanas to many, many children. She loved gardening and documenting her family's life thru photos. She was truly a devoted Christian and was ready to be with her Heavenly Father and her husband, Lloyd who passed less than one year ago. Lorene was thrilled to have been able to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary and Lloyd's 90th birthday last year in 2017.
Lloyd and Lorene and the family all enjoyed and appreciated the regular visits by three very special local nephews and their wives, Jim (Mary Lou) Cook, Wendell (Rosie) Sexton and Ralph (Peggy) DePorter, and cousin Bobby (Phyllis) Jones. She loved and appreciated the many wonderful caregivers at Cumberland Ridge Assisted Living in Crossville, and the many others who visited, called and sent cards to her as well as her new friends who also lived at Cumberland Ridge.

In addition to her parents, Lorene was preceded in death by her brother, John E Thomas, and sister, Wilma (Thomas) Lainhart.
Lorene is survived by daughters, Glenna McWain of Crossville, Carol Redd (David) of Ten Mile, and Donna Harris of Georgetown, KY; grandchildren, Joy (Mark) Brazeau, Melissa (Chris) Hedgecoth, Kristen Coley and Ryan Harris; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters and one great-great-grandson; as well as 42 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Print Shop, 115 Old Hen Valley Rd, Oliver Springs, TN 37840. The family will be attending service at Mt. Pisgah on Sunday, Dec 2, 2018, at 10:45 AM Eastern time to honor Lorene and would like to invite her friends to join them.
